Back 9 Stories is the format I started together with Julius Allzeit on the German golf podcast Grün und saftig by Golf’n’Style. The name was my idea, because the back nine is where rounds are decided. In my case that is where the birdies tend to fall.
Every two weeks we go deep on one topic instead of racing through the headlines. Episode one was about dream courses, from Augusta National to my eight rounds at Pebble Beach in college, hidden gems like Long Cove Club on Hilton Head Island and European courses that fit a realistic bucket list.
What makes the format special is the mix of perspectives. Julius knows the game as a journalist, I add the view from inside tournament golf, from Ladies European Tour course setups to green fees, architecture and the question of what really makes a course great.
