Evian Resort Golf Club: golf above the lake
There are tee shots where you briefly forget you are supposed to hit a ball. The view from the Evian Resort Golf Club across Lake Geneva is one of them. The photo above was taken in exactly such a moment.
Major ground
The course above Évian-les-Bains is home to the Evian Championship, one of the five majors in women’s golf. Every player who dreams big automatically dreams of this backdrop: tight, sloping fairways, fast greens and behind it all, always, the lake and the Alps.
Why the course demands so much
The hillside makes Evian a course of uneven lies. Hardly a stance is level, hardly a yardage plays the way it reads on paper. To score here you need a feel for elevation and the discipline to enjoy the view only after the shot.
My goal
The Evian Championship as a player in the field, not as a visitor. It is on my list, right next to the Solheim Cup and the Olympics. What I am doing to get there is in my journey.
