Humewood Golf Club: where my first professional win landed
Some courses you never forget because they are beautiful. Others you never forget because a life goal came true there. Humewood is both for me.
True links golf
Humewood is considered South Africa’s classic links course, right on the coast near Gqeberha, with wind, firm fairways and bumps that carry your ball exactly where you never wanted it. Nobody wins here by hitting it furthest, you win by keeping the ball down and staying patient. The course has hosted the South African Open several times and you feel that history on every hole.
The Sunday that changed everything
At the 2026 SuperSport Ladies Challenge I stood in a playoff after three rounds, it went long and at some point my putt dropped. My first win as a professional, eight years after my last individual title as an amateur. The full story is in the tournament report.
What I took with me
Links golf does not forgive impatience. That week at Humewood showed me my game works even when conditions are anything but perfect. That knowledge has travelled with me ever since.
