Golf Club St. Leon-Rot: my home
When I think of golf, I think of St. Leon-Rot first. This is where I hit my first balls at ten years old, where I grew up through the junior teams and where I return between tournament trips.
What makes the place special
St. Leon-Rot is one of Germany’s finest golf facilities, with the St. Leon and Rot courses, its own short course and practice conditions most clubs can only dream of. In 2015 the club hosted the Solheim Cup, the biggest event in women’s golf. Practising as a junior on grounds where the best players of Europe and the USA compete shapes your own standards.
My favourite moment
Early morning rounds on the Rot course before anyone else is out. And every junior clinic, because somewhere among the kids on the range there is always a ten-year-old just starting to dream. I know exactly how that feels.
For visitors
The facility sits between Heidelberg and Speyer and belongs on the list of courses every golfer in Germany should play once. More about my road from here to the tour is in my journey.
